Privacy policy
Effective 20 October 2026
This policy explains what the Battle of Mind app for Android collects, why, and what you can do about it. The app is made by Rovos International W.L.L. (commercial registration 146421-1), Building 201, Road 505, Block 305, Manama Center, Kingdom of Bahrain ("we", "us").
What we collect
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A random player identifier | The first time you play online, as a guest or with an account | To tell players apart in games, tournaments and ratings, and to let you rejoin a game |
| Your display name | When you choose one, or when you sign up | Shown to other players. A guest's name carries a short tag, such as "Ada #1a2b", so players can be told apart and reported |
| Your email address and password | When you create an account with email | To sign you in, send verification and password-reset codes, and recover your account. Passwords are handled by Amazon Cognito and are never stored or seen by us in readable form |
| Your email address and Google account identifier | When you sign in with Google | To sign you in. We do not ask Google for your name, photo or contacts |
| Your online games | When you play online, in a tournament or not | Moves, results, time controls, ratings, tournament entries and when each happened, to run the games and show them to the players and spectators |
| Your IP address | Each time the app connects to our servers, and with each online game | To keep the service secure, stop abuse and enforce bans |
| Your progress, if you have an account | When you sign in, and when you leave the app | Your chess statistics, puzzle rating and solved puzzles, match-3 stars, best scores and daily streak, so they are the same on every phone you sign in to |
| A record of your "Remove all ads" purchase | When you buy it | The Google Play purchase reference, the product and the date, attached to your account so ads stay off on every phone. Payment is made to Google Play; we never see your card or payment details |
| A notification token for your phone | When you allow notifications, by entering a tournament or looking for an online game | To tell you when your tournament game starts or your opponent has moved |
| A support message | When you use Contact support in the app or on this site | Your email address, the topic and your message (and, from the app, its version and your player identifier), so we can answer you |
| A report you send about another player | When you use Report player in an online game | The reason you picked and any note, with both players' identifiers and names and the game, so moderators can look into it. The reported player is not told who reported them |
| Advertising data | When an ad is shown | Google AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address and how you interact with ads, to show and measure ads (see "Ads" below) |
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, files or microphone, and the app has no chat.
What stays on your phone
Your settings, games against the computer, saved games and match history are kept only on your phone. As a guest, your statistics, puzzle progress and match-3 progress stay on your phone too; with an account they are also kept with your account, as described above. Settings > Delete local data erases what is on your phone, and so does uninstalling the app.
How we use it
- To run online games, matchmaking, friend games, tournaments, spectating, ratings and the leaderboard.
- To create and sign in to your account, send the codes it needs, and keep your progress and purchase with it.
- To send the notifications you allowed.
- To answer your support messages.
- To moderate: look into reports, remove offensive names, and ban players who break the Terms of Service.
- To keep the service secure and working.
- To show ads, which pay for the app, unless you bought "Remove all ads".
We do not sell your personal data.
What other players can see
Your display name, your rating and the moves of your online games are visible to your opponent, to anyone watching the game, to other players in the same tournament, and on the leaderboard if you play rated games. Your email address and IP address are never shown to other players.
Ads
The app shows ads from Google AdMob. Google may use your device's advertising ID to show personalised ads. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the app asks for your consent first, and you can change your choice in the app (Settings > Ad privacy choices). Anywhere, you can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in your phone's settings (Settings > Google > Ads, on most Android phones). How Google uses this data is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Who we share it with
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) runs our servers and stores the data above, in the United States (N. Virginia). AWS acts on our instructions only.
- Google provides sign-in with Google if you use it, the ads in the app, payments through Google Play, and notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- Other players see what is described under "What other players can see".
- Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect players from harm.
Your data is stored in the United States, so it may be handled outside the country you live in.
How long we keep it
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Connection records, with your IP address | About 3 hours |
| An online game that was left unfinished | Up to 24 hours |
| Finished online games, with the players' identifiers, names and IP addresses | 12 months |
| Tournaments | 7 days after their last change |
| Reports about players | 12 months |
| Support messages | 12 months |
| Your notification token | 30 days after it was last used |
| Your rating and leaderboard entry, your progress and your purchase record | Until you delete your account |
| Your account (email address and display name) | Until you delete your account |
| A ban | Until it is lifted |
Deleting your account and your data
- In the app: Settings > Account > Delete account. This erases your account, its email address, display name, online rating, progress and notification token straight away, and your "Remove all ads" purchase is no longer attached to it (it stays with your Google Play account, so a new account of yours can restore it). Finished games and reports stay for the period above.
- Without the app: send us a message or email support@rovosinternational.com from the address you signed up with, asking us to delete your account. We do it within 30 days and tell you when it is done. More on deleting your account.
- Data on your phone: Settings > Delete local data, or uninstall the app.
Guests have no account to delete; their games are kept as described above.
Children
Battle of Mind is not meant for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under Bahrain's Personal Data Protection Law, the GDPR in the EEA and UK, California law, or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act), you may have the right to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to how we use it, withdraw a consent you gave, and complain to your data protection authority. To use any of these rights, email support@rovosinternational.com. For people in the EEA and UK, we use your data because it is needed to provide the game you asked for, for our legitimate interests in keeping it secure and fair, and, for personalised ads, with your consent.
Security
The app talks to our servers over encrypted connections, passwords are handled by Amazon Cognito, and access to our systems is limited to the people who run them. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the effective date above, and for important changes we will tell you in the app.
